- Review plot terms and a few other short story terms.
- Game about short story terms. Hot seat.
- Begin reading the short story “ New Boy.” Before reading: 4 Quadrants of a thought based on film version - language, images, physical sensations, emotions. During reading: 4 Quadrants of a thought based on the text of the story. After reading: Group placemat.
Tuesday
- Look at a few more slides from the French Revolution slide show. Work on filling-in the placemat. In the bottom right box put thoughts and actions related to the revolution - for example: things individual citizens might have been feeling, or doing, ideas or movements that were beginning to form in groups of people, changes in the society and the system/government.
- Model how to do synectics. Marie Antoinette and cake. When you receive your picture and synectics paper, you must state how your person is/is not like ONE of the things. Then pass the paper on to another group. Don't know anything about your person? You have a world of information in your phone.
- Crash Course in History video: the French Revolution. Ancienne Regime, Englightenment, Estates General, National Assembly, Tennis Court Oath, Storming of the Bastille, Declaration of the Rights of Man and Citizens (DROMAC), Constitutional Monarchy...
- French Revolution slide show. Before viewing, fill-in the top left of your placemat with reasons why you believe a revolution took place in France. Think about the information we covered last week. In the top right box, write down what the slide show suggests were the reasons for the revolution. In the bottom left box, record info about the 3 Estates. In the bottom right box put thoughts and emotions related to the revolution. In the middle box OR top left things individual citizens were feeling; bottom left, ideas/movements that were beginning to form; top right, things individuals were doing; bottom right, changes in the society and the system/government.
- Complete work on a famous person from the French Revolution. Find a good image of them from an online source. Show it to me and I will help you print it. Get it from the library. Complete the synectics boxes with 2 terms/ideas that are in some way connected to the French Revolution ex. prison, guillotine, war, tennis court, palace, society, tax. When you receive your picture and synectics paper, you must state how your person is and isn’t like the two objects and why.
